Philippine Air force General Hospital

On 27 November 1945 the Nichols Air base Hospital was organized as an Aviation Examining Team of the Philippine Army with station at Camp Murphy (now Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo), Quezon City. It was transferred from Camp Murphy  to Nichols Air Base Pasay City on 07 September 1949 and was absorbed by 510th Aviation Medical Center on 16 December 1949. In March 1952, the 504 Medical Evaluation Flight in Fernando  Air Base at Lipa City was transferred to Nichols Air Base and was also absorbed by the 510th AMC. On 15 March 1964, the 510th AMC was organized and redesignated as Nichols Air Base Hospital with an initial of Fifty(50) bed capacity pursuant to GO Nr 192 issued by GHQ, AFP.

On February 1974, NAB Hospital was removed from 520th Air Base Wing and subsequently reorganized provisionally under PAFMSG (Prov). On 02 March 1974, the 50 bed capacity of the hospital has increased to One Hundred (100) to meet the growing needs of the PAF personnel. On 01 May 1976, another significant development emerged. The PAFMSG was dissolved and redesignated back as NAB Hospital under the Command and Control of the Wing Commander of 520th Air Base Wing. The hospital was tasked to undertake the mission, functions, personnel and to maintain and operate the equipment of the defunct PAFMSG.

At this stage in the history of the hospital, it has developed as Aeromedical Service which is peculiar to the Philippine Air Force as a Major Service. Its mission has also been enlarged to include providing medical service support to all tenant units within NAB Complex, the Philippine Air Force family in general and Aeromedical support all over the Philippines.

The hospital has grown to function as a General Hospital because of its increased and extended services not only among PAF personnel but as well to the civilian populace.  Because of this development, on 16 September 1978, the Nichols Air Base Hospital was transferred from the operational control of 520th Air Base Wing to Headquarters Philippine Air Force and redesignated as Philippine Air Force General Hospital.
